OSG YOUTH ALLIANCE AND MIT PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION LAUNCH THREE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR WINNERS OF THE ASEAN-CHINA-INDIA YOUTH LEADERSHIP SUMMIT 2024

The inaugural ‘MIT Professional Education Prize provides access to innovative learning opportunities, empowering young leaders to drive future global sustainability solutions.

Singapore/Cambridge, Mass., Date: Rapid urbanisation, climate change, and climate risk pose significant challenges to the world, including the Asia-Pacific region, in meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. This delay underscores the urgent need for transformative action to avert further environmental degradation and promote sustainable urban growth.

In response, MIT Professional Education is collaborating with Singapore-based OSG Youth Alliance to launch three scholarships aimed at empowering young leaders in Asia to become changemakers driving sustainability initiatives to combat climate change. The three award winners of the ASEAN-China-India (ACI) Youth Leadership Summit Sustainability Startathon Competition will receive scholarships to enrol in one of the following online courses offered by MIT Professional Education:

  • Innovation and Technology

  • Circular Economy: Transition for Future Sustainability

  • Cultural Awareness for Global Business

"We are incredibly proud to support these outstanding youth leaders. By offering some of our most popular courses as scholarship prizes, we're equipping them with the knowledge and expertise needed to address complex global challenges such as sustainability. Providing access to cutting-edge learning opportunities, we hope will empower them to become catalysts for change and to drive lasting change in their communities and beyond," said Bhaskar Pant, Executive Director of MIT Professional Education.

The ACI Youth Leadership Summit is a six-day sustainability event in Singapore that brings together over 6,000 young leaders from ASEAN, China, and India to explore key topics like cross-cultural understanding, innovation, and sustainability. Participants include the top three winners from each country's Sustainability Startathon Local Rounds. From the 180 finalists, three outstanding young leaders will be awarded the MIT Professional Education Prize for their innovation and commitment to driving sustainable solutions.

"We are delighted to collaborate with MIT Professional Education on this inaugural effort to sponsor the winners from the ASEAN-China-India (ACI) Youth Leadership Summit and further their opportunities for growth and mentorship. The prestigious MIT Professional Education Prize will enable them to pursue knowledge in sustainability and innovation-related subjects further to ensure lasting impact, playing a crucial role in shaping future leaders in this field," said Dr Tan Eng Han, Founder of OSG Youth Alliance.
