Asset 19_3x.png

The ASEAN-China-India Youth Leadership Summit is a dynamic platform that unites young Asian leaders from across the region for a vibrant and collaborative future.

Sustainability is a crucial topic of our time, where we face numerous environmental and social challenges, including climate change, food security, and clean energy. Despite this, the interconnectedness of our world presents an opportunity for the younger generation to reshape it with their talent and innovation. That’s why for 2024, the selected theme will be “Reimagine – Eco-Cities”.
To advance sustainable development, our programme will focus specifically on addressing two United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs):

Goal 7:
AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY

To ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all.

Why?

Access to affordable, reliable and sustainable energy is crucial to achieving many of the Sustainable Development Goals. Energy access, however, varies widely across countries and the current rate of progress falls short of what will be required to achieve the Goal. Redoubled efforts will be needed, particularly for countries with large energy access deficits and high energy consumption.

Goal 11:
Sustainable Cities and Communities

To make cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.

Why?

This goal recognises the importance of cities as centres of economic growth and innovation, but also acknowledges that they can contribute to environmental degradation, social inequality, and other challenges. Achieving this goal requires a wide range of actions, including improving access to affordable housing, enhancing public transportation, reducing pollution, and promoting green spaces.

Problem statement:

1. Access Disparity: Lack of electricity in 29,604 villages in Myanmar hinders education and business opportunities.
2. Environmental Impact: Reliance on diesel generators in rural and remote areas leads to high carbon emissions and environmental damage.
3. Economic Viability: Existing energy solutions like hydropower, solar power, and diesel generator power are not affordable or sustainable for underserved communities in Myanmar

Proposal details:

Therefore, the solution to this problem is to implement a hybrid electricity generation consisting of a biomass incinerator and a biogas digestor that uses clean, reliable, and renewable bioenergy and could provide electricity in the village of 1000 households in the Ayeyarwady Region by using a budget of 8000 lakhs MMK within 2 years.
